A male elephant suffered a fractured leg after stepping on an Improvised Explosive Device in West Singhbhum's Koyna forest range. This marks the sixth such incident recently, highlighting the dangers forest officials face in these sensitive areas. A medical team was dispatched to treat the injured animal.
Ranchi: A male elephant sustained injuries on his leg after accidentally stepping on an IED in the Koyna forest range in West Singhbhum district on Monday. Saranda divisional forest officer (DFO) Aviroop Sinha told the media that this was the sixth such incident in recent times. He said, “We learnt about it only in the morning and rushed a medical team to the spot. Venturing into these sensitive areas is risky even for foresters. The front leg of the elephant got fractured.”
